The Fender Telecaster was originally introduced as the Broadcaster in the fall of 1950. In 1952, due to ensuing legal difficulties associated with the Broadcaster the name was changed and reintroduced as the Telecaster. Interestingly, Fender still produced the guitars throughout 1951 and those guitars became the very sought after “Nocasters.” The Telecaster has undergone few changes since 1952. The Telecaster is a basic solid body electric guitar with two single coil pickups and a three-way pickup selector (Bridge, Bridge/Neck, and neck) configuration. The Fender Telecaster is known for its bright, clean tone, which is often referred to as the “Tele bite.” The telecaster is a mainstay in country music and has even perforated in to Jazz, Rock, and Metal genres. Today, Telecasters have a variety of pickup configurations that are suitable for all styles of music.
